"Argos Pride" is Roy's tribute to VF-147. Named for the famed Greek heroes, warriors who battled to obtain the magical Golden Fleece, the "Argonauts" of Strike Fighter Squadron 147 were commissioned February 1st, 1967 at NAS Lemoore, CA. Since their inception as the Navy's first A-7E Corsair ll attack squadron, the Argonauts have flown six different aircraft, including several generations of the F/A-18. From their first aircraft carrier, the venerable USSRanger (CVA-61) to their current one, the USS REAGAN (CV-76), VFA-147 excelled in both combat and peacetime operations. The Argonaut's storied history includes deployments in support of combat operations over the skies of Vietnam, Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan and numerous peacetime deployments. VFA-147 currently flies the F/A-18E Super Hornet and continues to lead the way in Naval Aviation tactical excellence.
